The influence of public opinion in the strategic communication during conventional warfare and its transition to peace. The end of the war with Ecuador in 1995 as case analysis
Abstract
In this installment the end of the war with Ecuador in 1995 is addressed, from the Ecuadorian perspective, with the purpose of analyzing the influence of public opinion and strategic communication in decision-making at the political level, and its effects on the evolution of the transition to peace in the development of a conventional war. Theoretical bases of renowned authors are taken as a reference to be able, after a brief historical account, to make an analysis of theoretical concepts and their application to practice taking historical facts as reference. In the final paragraphs of the article, emphasis is placed on the importance that it had for the transition from war to peace, the capacity that is acquired at the political level if public opinion, already formed on some issue, is in favor or at least not in disagreement with the decision. Finally, the importance of mass media, social networks and the value that messages have when it is an opinion leader who uses the indicated media is pointed out.
