An Efficient Port

  • César Augusto Ferrer Banda Marina de Guerra del Perú

Abstract

This article gives an overview of the efficient management of a port to face the problems arising from globalization, modernization, environmental, social, political and economic changes. It presents concepts related to supply chain, business behavior, efficiency, port, maritime logistics chain, port management, challenges, safety, sustainability, and port efficiency. Furthermore, methodologically speaking, the work is a narrative review for which information was sought based on words such as ports, problems, dredging, docks, sediments, maritime, logistics, and congestion. RQDA and Zotero were used as technological tools to write this document. As conclusions, ports serve as a union and they change over time; it was also possible to establish the importance of implementing efficiency and sustainability as they are achieved through knowledge, technology, cooperation, and strategic alliances through the concept of “invest is required to win.” Finally, port activities can bring welfare if the paradigm is changed.
