Pospanamax shipyard: Modernization and Defense engine

Abstract

Abstract: This article analyzes the strategic importance of building a Pospanamax shipyard in Callao as a driver for national modernization. Facing the obsolescence of current infrastructure, the project aims to strengthen national defense and sovereignty through technological autonomy. By positioning SIMA as a "tractor company”, the initiative seeks to foster a naval-metallurgical-industrial cluster and transition toward Industry 4.0, with a projected economic impact exceeding US$ 600 million. In conclusion, the strategy involves relocating of the Callao Naval Base and implementing a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model under the BOT (Build, Operate, Transfer) scheme.
